Israel Punished Seven Times
"And if ye will not yet for all this
hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins "
(Leviticus 26:18,21,24,28).
Now hold on to this thought and turn to Ezekiel chapter 4.
There, in verses 5 and 9, God tells the prophet to lie on his side 390 days, a
day for a year, to signify the time of punishment for Israel's sin.
Further consider this: if the basic unit
of time for the punishment of Israel's iniquity in prophetic revelation is 390
years, then "seven times" of her punishment would equal a total of 2,730
years—that is, the 390 years of Ezekiel chapter 4, multiplied by the "seven
times" of Leviticus chapter 26.
Now biblical historians tell us that the northern kingdom of
Israel went into captivity to the Assyrians in the year 722 B.C. This was the
beginning of the prophetic times of her punishment. So if we add the 2,730 years
derived at in the explanation above to the year 722 B.C., we come to the year
2008 A.D., which would place us, historically speaking, at the end of the "seven
times" of Israel's punishment.
As astounding as this is, it is still not the full story!
